The City of Chattanooga is inviting families to kick off the new school year in style at its Not Your Basic Back-2-School Bash.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Miller Park.
Like the title says, participants can expect more than just a backpack giveaway. The event will feature face painting, inflatables, food trucks, free haircuts, school supplies, and valuable community resources.
“We’re not just giving away backpacks,” says Malisha, a representative from the city of Chattanooga. “We want you to understand what we have. pick up your backpack, go network, go understand what’s happening in your city beyond this and with the resources that can help you through school.”
Public Works representative ‘E’ adds that families can simply “come on through,” noting the event is designed to help ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping while creating a fun experience for everyone.
