As the healthcare field continues searching for the next generation of passionate medical professionals Kusona Fortingo shares her story as a student in the More in Common Alliance program. Through our conversation, she proves that determination, flexibility, and hands-on learning is a formula that can take physicians in training, far.
Fortingo recently shares her journey through medicine and how the partnership between Morehouse School of Medicine and Common Spirit has helped shape her future as a healthcare professional.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, she explains that she chose Morehouse because of its mission to serve underserved communities and its impact on Atlanta.
“There’s just so much to do within medicine,” she says. “Really just seeing the difference that you can make in patients’ lives and the various avenues of medicine in itself was something that really garnered my interest.”
