The Chattanooga Zoo is gearing up for a sweet summer event with Ice Cream Safari on Friday, June 13, from 4–7 p.m. This giving guests a chance to explore the zoo after hours while enjoying unlimited treats from vendors including Dippin’ Dots, Blue Bell, Mayfield, Ben & Jerry’s, and more.
Zoo spokesperson Jake Cash said one of the highlights is watching the animals enjoy their own frozen snacks made by zookeepers.
“You get to see the animal’s kind of interacting and enjoying some things that they do not usually get,” Cash explained. “It just makes for a really fun active day at the zoo.”
Cash also noted that visiting later in the day offers a different experience because some animals, like the zoo’s red pandas, are most active at dawn and dusk.
During the visit, Cash introduced listeners to Chip, an Eastern box turtle ambassador animal that was rescued through the zoo’s wildlife rehabilitation program after an injury left him unable to survive in the wild.
Tickets for Ice Cream Safari are available online at Chattzoo.org, and Cash encouraged guests to buy early since recent zoo events have sold out.
