The Chattanooga Zoo is getting into the Halloween spirit with the return of Boo in the Zoo.
It is a family-friendly tradition happening Fridays and Saturdays from October 9 through October 31, with the exception of October 30, when the zoo will host its adults-only Frights and Pints celebration.
Chattanooga Zoo’s Jake Cash stopped by to share what visitors can expect including trick-or-treating throughout the zoo, character meet-and-greets, and the popular ‘Creepy Crawlies’ exhibit featuring animals such as spiders and snakes.
Cash also introduced Joan, a seven-year-old Madagascar common tenrec, explaining that while tenrecs may resemble hedgehogs, they are not related and their closest living relative is actually the elephant.
“It’s fun educating people a little bit about animals that they probably don’t even know exists,” Cash says.
Boo in the Zoo has been a Halloween tradition at the Chattanooga Zoo for decades, and Cash encouraged visitors to purchase tickets in advance because the event can sell out.
For adults looking for a Halloween night out, Frights and Pints will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 30 and will feature a dance floor, beer and wine, specialty cocktails, VIP animal meet-and-greets, a costume contest and more.
Tickets for both events are available at chatzoo.org.
